Who We Are

Mainstream is a well-rounded and experienced team of licensed clinicians and interns, offering a uniquely qualified approach to helping individuals and families with psychiatric challenges. Our team draws on a wealth of experience in a variety of clinical settings to craft tailor-made services from a range of modalities that will help resolve the issues families and individuals bring to us. We are creatively pragmatic and are happy to discover new approaches in response to unique situations. Our agency’s experience with treating addiction as well as psychiatric conditions makes us an excellent choice for individuals with multiple challenges.


Derrick Selb, Licensed MFT
Program Manager

Derrick is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who began his work in the mental health community in Santa Cruz, CA in 2003, and has been with the Mainstream program here in Santa Barbara since 2010.  Derrick has experience working with adults, children, and families in a variety of therapeutic settings and circumstances, primarily focusing on individuals with mood and thought disorders – whether in residential treatment programs, living independently, or the difficult transitional period in between.  Derrick’s motivating philosophy is to leave the world in better shape than he found it, and is happiest when utilizing all of his knowledge, skill, creativity, and compassion to have an impact on the lives of those he meets.


Serena Todd, Licensed MFT

Serena Todd is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Santa Barbara, California. A practitioner of Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, she attended UCSB and Antioch University, where she studied Evolutionary Psychology and Family Systems respectively. Recently, she has been researching how meditation and yoga can be integrated into her psychotherapy practice. She is also interested in educational reform and sits on the Board of Directors at SBHS Mutimedia and Design Academy. In her free time she enjoys chasing her chickens, children and Labrador retriever.


Greg deRoulhac, Licensed MFT
Greg’s areas of expertise include addiction and recovery, life transitions, relationship concerns, depression, trauma, anxiety and older adults. He provides a compassionate, supportive, collaborative counseling environment to assist individuals and couples in working through difficult life issues.
He utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Meditation, Motivational Interviewing and elements of Psychodynamic theory in his practice.


Jake Sternhagen, Case Manager
Case Manager

Jake began working in the mental health field in Dallas, Texas. His initial focus was on street medicine, and providing care for the houseless population. After coming to Santa Barbara, he extensively assisted the local houseless population through the organization “Doctors Without Walls,” and individually throughout the city of Isla Vista. In addition to his work within the Mainstream program, Jake also works as a Mental Health Counselor at Cresend Health’s residential facility “Mountain House.”  He studied biopsychology at UCSB, and is currently working towards a career in psychiatry.
